Two one-hour workshops are being presented—one for kids and the other for adults.
Etiquette for Kids will include everyday etiquette basics like the number one rule of etiquette (what matters above ALL else), meeting, greeting, and confidence builders; the courteous quartet; how to handle mistakes and using tact; sincere and insincere apologies; how to be the guest who always gets invited back; and the no-excuse approach to thank you cards.
The Etiquette for Adults workshop will include employing many of the same etiquette basics in a world where we encounter those who aren’t always polite. Topics will include the importance of first impressions, proper handshakes and polite introductions, business etiquette, office politics and social sensitivity, what to wear when (what is business casual anyway?), making the most of a toast, and other urban pleasantries.

Heather Buchman and Vicki Mynhier are former co-directors of Cadet Social Decorum for the United States Air Force Academy, where they took the program from being select elective classes to one that became a requirement for graduation. That experience led to requests from parents, business owners, and other academic institutions in the Colorado Springs area, for presentations and workshops.

As a certified etiquette trainer, Ms. Buchman brings years of experience in business and communications. Yet as a parent Heather fundamentally understands that people need to learn manners in a way that is FUN, practical, and puts them in situations they will face every day—whether it is in a classroom or a boardroom.
